Our Story

We exist to
close the gap.

Between what schools teach and what employers need. Between ambition and opportunity. Between a degree and a career. That gap is what Grouh Academy was built to close.

Our Story

A Google Doc and a bold idea.

2020

Grouh founded in Lagos with 12 students and a shared Google Doc curriculum.

2021

First structured cohort launched. 40 students, 3 instructors, one big bet.

2022

Internship program piloted with 5 partner companies. 18 placements in year one.

2023

Expanded to 3 countries. Crossed 1,000 enrolled students. Launched LMS v1.

2024

Raised seed funding. Grew to 12 tracks, 20+ instructors, 40+ hiring partners.

2026

Now 4,800+ students, 60+ partners, and Cohort 7 enrolling across the continent.

"We didn't start Grouh to build a school. We started it because the students we knew were talented, hungry, and completely unprepared for the real world."

◈ Vision

Where we're going

A world where your address never limits your access to world-class education and career opportunity.

We believe the talent gap between continents is manufactured — by access, not ability. We're here to prove it.

Why We Exist

The problem is real. So is our answer.

60%

of African graduates report being unemployable in their chosen field within a year of graduation.

faster career growth for learners who complete project-based programs vs. traditional courses.

72%

of tech employers say portfolio work matters more than degrees when making hiring decisions.

How we teach

Our learning philosophy in four principles.

01
Principle 01

Project before theory.

We start students with the end goal — a real deliverable — and teach the concepts that make it possible. Not the other way around.

02
Principle 02

Feedback is the curriculum.

Weekly reviews from instructors aren't just grades. They're the clearest signal about where a learner actually stands and what to do next.

03
Principle 03

Community accelerates everything.

Cohort learning isn't a feature — it's the engine. Peers who challenge each other learn faster, stay longer, and hire each other later.

04
Principle 04

Credentials that employers trust.

Our certificates are designed with hiring partners, not for the wall. Every assessment reflects the bar that companies actually use.
